Hug Home Comforts: Beef burgers for dogs
Summer is here, even if it may be raining most of the time, and what better way to enjoy it than a BBQ? No-one should miss out, which is why we created our scrumptious beef burgers for dogs, so they can join in the fun, too.
These yummy snacks are topped with delicious kimchi, which we recommend making beforehand, as it needs time to ferment. Fermented vegetables are a fantastic addition to your dog’s diet, providing a natural probiotic to help with their gut and immune health. Tastes good, feels good – win-win.
If you don’t have time to let the vegetables ferment, why not whip up a coleslaw using some kefir? It’s still a great probiotic treat, but without the wait.
If your dog can’t have beef, why not try one of our other fabulous minces – whichever your pup loves the most!
These burgers for dogs are the perfect summertime meal, so have a go and tag us in your creations. We always love to see them.
Ingredients you need
600g Hug mince
2 eggs
200g oat flour
3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 white cabbage
1/2 red cabbage
2 carrots
1 apple
1 lettuce
*Optional* 2 tbsp kefir
Making the kimchi
Grate your apple and carrots. Shred your red and white cabbages finely.
Mix them all thoroughly in a bowl until combined and evenly mixed.
Pack your jar with the vegetable mix, pushing down on the vegetables to ensure you have really stuffed that jar tightly.
Once you’re done, add in 3 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and fill with water to the top.
Pop the lid on and leave on the side (away from direct sunlight) for a few days to start fermenting. Once you have begun using the kimchi, pop in the fridge to keep fresher for longer.
How to make summer burgers for dogs
Whisk together your 2 eggs and stir into the mince in a bowl.
Add in your oat flour slowly, mixing everything thoroughly until it is fully combined.
Now time to form the burgers!
Shape into burger-size patties – you can make these whatever size may be suitable for your dog.
You can cook these burgers on the BBQ or on the hob or even in the oven, whatever you prefer.
Cook until browned. The benefit of using Hug mince is that you can leave your burgers a little pink if your pup prefers them fairly raw or cook all the way through – both are suitable.
Now time to serve and top with your tasty kefir coleslaw or kimchi.
Serve in a lettuce bun, then sit back and watch your pooch tuck into this tasty delight (do remember to let the burgers cool before feeding).
They are un-burger-lievable!
